Helping teachers to overcome barriers and introduce innovative ways of embedding food, farming and the countryside in their schools
We believe it is important that all children and young people leave school healthier and better connected to the issues that shape our world.
We help teachers and schools’ leaders access great content, relevant training and tailored advice so that they are able to create powerful learning experiences about food and farming, in both the classroom and the countryside.
Countryside Classroom is the biggest gateway to resources, places to visit and expertise for schools. Managed by LEAF Education on behalf of a partnership of over thirty leading organisations and hundreds of other contributors.

We know that approaching complex issues like food production and the environment can be daunting, while arranging visits to the countryside can seem intimidating.
From initial teacher training with selected ITT providers, to local CPD courses, national conferences and bespoke INSET training, we offer a range of ways for you to either learn the basics or extend your professional knowledge.
Whether you want to get up and running with a new activity (such as farm visits), develop a whole-school programme (like a food-themed Science Week), fine-tune your existing programmes (for example, adding an agri-food dimension to your careers events) or radically re-invent your school around a core value of food and the environment, our team of experts is here to help you.
We have an expert in every region of England and Wales, ready to help you tailor the right approach for your school.Consultancy services
LEAF Education operates a Teacher Advisory Panel which represents a cross-section of teachers from a range of schools, key stages, subjects and specialisms.
The Panel considers ideas for new resources, reviews any work in progress, critiques existing resources, and keeps us up-to-date with current challenges and opportunities in schools. The Panel also supports the wider Countryside Classroom Partnership.
