HGCA is a levy-funded organisation that aims to improve the production and marketing of cereals and oilseeds. It provides market information, supports research and development, helps develop the export market for UK cereals and provides independent information about the role of cereals and oilseeds in a healthy, balanced diet. HGCA has free educational resources available for children from primary through to secondary school (Key Stage 1-4) and are linked to the curriculum. A series of printed posters present the different grains grown in the UK through the growing year, processing and end products. All resources can be ordered on www.grainchain.com. The Grain Chain www.grainchain.com website also offers visual, up-to-date materials including activity sheets, games, podcasts and quizzes which cover the key topics of arable farming, milling, cooking and nutrition. Teachers are offered the benefits of interactive white board activities as an additional classroom resource plus detailed lesson plans and curriculum details. A new section for families has been introduced to help continue the learning outside of the classroom.
