Junction Arts, an art organisation based in NE Derbyshire has recently been awarded a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to deliver an exciting creative project called Combine - Farming Heritage | East Midlands.
The East Midlands has a proud and distinct farming history and Combine aims to capture and promote the people, places and traditions that define the region's rich agricultural past.
Combine will focus on six historic farms - one in each of the region's six counties: Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Rutland. It will bring together a unique mix of people to research, record and share these unique histories with local communities and the wider public.
We will work with young people from a school in each county who will be the primary researchers. They will visit farms, museums, county archives, cattle markets and very importantly, talk to local people to gather their stories.
Once the research had been gathered it will form the basis of an exhibition which will tour high profile and local venues around the region until December 2013.
If you have a farming story you would like to contribute to this exciting project, or for more information about Combine call Jane Wells on 01623 746222, visit the project website www. Combine farmingheritage.org or email
