CRB Disclosures

crbFarming and Countryside Education (FACE) is registered with the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) as an Umbrella Body and provides a service to its members by helping them gain access to Disclosures without the administrative burden.

To apply for a disclosure:

  • The member organisation must provide FACE with a written record of the name/s of people who will be verifying documentation and the name/s of people who will have access to disclosure information. FACE can advise on a Security Policy if necessary. (Do note that passing on Disclosure information to others may be a criminal offence.)

  • Organisations should have a written policy on the recruitment of ex-offenders. A copy of this policy should be given to all applicants for positions eligible for a Disclosure. A model policy is available from http://www.crb.homeoffice.gov.uk/pdf/CRB_DIP011-Policy-Statement_Ex-offenders_Eng.pdf

  • FACE can supply multiple copies of forms. Currently (April 2011), the cost to process these (by CRB) is £44 for enhanced disclosure. (From October 2009 only enhanced CRB checks were available for anyone working with children or vulnerable adults.)  In addition, FACE charges an administration fee of £25 per disclosure application to non-FACE members. For FACE member organisations each disclosure will cost £20.  FACE will invoice the organisation for the total amount. However, if you are a volunteer (receiving no payment for the work you do) there is no charge from CRB but you must tick the box under section x68 of the form which indicates you are a volunteer. Failure to tick this box means CRB will make a charge.

FACE has no role to play in the recruitment process of individual member organisations.
