Fertiliser: nitrogen is put on in a compound form, at an annual cost of £10,495, to alleviate the work load on the sprayer. Other fertiliser for sugar beet is applied as a liquid at an annual cost of £4,790.

Pesticides: (including fungicides and insecticides) annual cost £43,538.

We are now strongly involved with a local farmers buying group and use them to access agronomy advice. In the first year we showed a 20% saving on our chemical costs.

The farm uses a contractor to keep vermin under control.

Fuel: in the last year the farm used £7,671 worth of tractor diesel. The farm has used 36,400 litres of diesel fuel.
