Case Study Probe.
Using the case studies and web sites, find out more about farming methods used to produce our food.
Outline:
Children explore the farms where the food came from using the resource box case studies. Teachers set a number of research questions for children to explore, for example:
What does the farm produce?
Of which assurance scheme is the farm part?
How does the farm look after wildlife? (How many ways are mentioned?)
More open questions and questions requiring reflection can be set too, for example:
Do you think this would be a good farm at which to work? Explain your answer.
Simple vocabulary/dictionary work might be discussed, e.g. what do these words phrases mean: produce, heritage potatoes, free range?
