Wednesday 5th May, 9.45-3.45pm - Beeston St Andrew, Norwich Farm shops can offer school groups a range of learning opportunities across the curriculum in addition to topics such as 5-a-day and food miles.
School visits also provide an opportunity to show children the value of fresh, local produce as well as the possibility of increasing footfall as the children bring their parents on return visits.
This seminar will be hosted by HFG Farm Shop, just north of Norwich, with contributions from a Norfolk high school and from Hollow Trees Farm Shop (Semer, Suffolk).
Come prepared for a busy day and to go away with plenty of ideas to develop farm shop - school links!
PROGRAMME
9.45 – 10.00 Arrival at HFG Farm Shop – coffee or tea available 10.00 – 12.00 Welcome and introduction to the day How to go about building school links Activities suitable for primary school groups Led by Nick and Judy Taylor, HFG Farm Shop and Moya Myerscough, FACE Regional Co-ordinator 12.15 – 1.15 Drive to the Tithe Barn, Horstead (about 3.5 miles from HFG Farm Shop) Buffet lunch of local produce 1.15 – 3.15 (The afternoon programme will take place in the Tithe Barn) Activity ideas for Early Years Foundation Stage groups A high school viewpoint Practical considerations Resources, support and training opportunities Led by Sally Bandall, Hollow Trees Farm Shop, a teacher from Acle High School and Moya Myerscough, FACE Regional Co-ordinator 3.15 – 3.45 Tea and plenary session
