At the end of November farmers and teachers had fun taking part in hands-on environmental arts activities. The activities are designed for use on farms or countryside visits, or in school grounds to help children and young people to learn about food, farming and the countryside.
The seminar, hosted at Manor Farm near Leicester and coordinated by Bobbie Harvey, regional Farming and Countryside Education (FACE) representative in the East Midlands, gave attendees the opportunity to learn how to use environmental arts activities confidently with children and young people in their own setting. Those attending had great fun getting their hands dirty, drawing with charcoal and mud, making faces on trees and many other activities that can be undertaken in farm or countryside settings, or in school grounds. Artist, Georgina Barney also attended the seminar to share her journey around Britain’s farms and how they inspired her own art practice.
