The cool temperate climate of mid-Wales is much the same as the rest of the UK and Ireland, that is, mild and variable. Typically, temperatures range of from 3oC in January to 18oC in August, although a wider range is likely to be experienced on the higher areas and in the valley bottoms.
Dolithon Meats is situated at an altitude of 200 metres, with a mix of valley land at about 150 metres above sea level and higher plateau areas at 300 metres.
In nearby Newtown, winter temperatures average 4oC and summer temperatures rarely exceed 21oC. The growing season lasts from April to October when temperatures are mostly above 5oC.
Rainfall is higher than in much of England, totalling approximately 1300mm per year. The wettest months are from October to January when 100mm per month can be expected. Even in the driest months rainfall is in the order of 60mm per month and cloudy conditions are common. Snowfall is occasionally heavy, but not often. In most years a small amount of snow can be expected on about 15 days per year on the higher ground.
